Under the umbrella of the “VARTA Helps” campaign, we are augmenting our social commitment by also collaborating with “The Ocean Project” to preserve our planet.
Social, sustainable, ecological and economic activities have always played an important role throughout the over 130-year history of the VARTA AG Group. This is why – alongside its social commitments – our corporate group supports “The Ocean Project” and “World Oceans Day” with a donation of 10,000 euros.
The “World Oceans Day,” which originated at the United Nations Earth Summit in 1992, aims to raise awareness of the challenges currently facing our oceans. Since 2002, it has been held annually on June 8th and is coordinated and supported by the globally active organization “The Ocean Project.” The organization ordinarily campaigns for the protection of this sensitive habitat by organizing numerous campaigns and events around the world. This year, however, due to the global health situation, the “World Oceans Day” will not be implemented in the form of events, but in digital form and supported with various measures. Whether via webinars, online learning tools for children or videos, all of these measures help people and nature in the current situation.
Our contribution to a better environment
In addition to our donation to “The Ocean Project,” VARTA Consumer Batteries also strives to keep its own ecological footprint as small as possible. The expansion of our sustainability management system supports this goal. Whether packaging for batteries or procurement of raw materials, production at our German sites or short delivery routes, VARTA Consumer Batteries optimizes all aspects of its operations to conserve resources and protect the environment. Powerful, high-quality batteries with long service lives contribute to this just as much as their environmentally friendly production.
As part of its support for “World Oceans Day – The Oceans Project,” VARTA Consumer Batteries is now going one step further and developing new Eco Packs. The new ten packs of the LONGLIFE Power AA and LONGLIFE Power AAA Eco Packs are made of recycled materials and are 100% plastic-free. All previous packaging consists of at least 90% recycled components.

In addition, the packaging is designed so that it can be used not only to store new batteries, but also to keep used batteries before they are recycled. The Eco Pack product displays are also made of recycled materials and are 100% recyclable.
